S/he will lead one of our key clients for the firm, a leading biotechnology company, with work spanning all communications disciplines.

The Vice President (VP) is a business-minded steward of the client relationship and is entrusted and empowered to ensure both the clients and agencys business objectives are met. S/he will effectively identify and anticipate business problems and help clients solve them through applying deep industry knowledge. S/he will effectively manage a cross-functional, cross-office team as well as mentor junior staff and will embrace the role as an officer of the firm. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading client and team, creating programs that are rooted in insights and consider a variety of platforms, channels and audiences
  • Identifying business problems that clients are looking to solve and ensure they are understood by team
  • Understanding the clients businesses, priorities, pain points and competitive landscape and helping the team do the same
  • Leading and managing team smartly, setting roles, responsibilities and expectations, overseeing performance of team members and providing feedback, mentoring and guiding career development
  • Staying knowledgeable about markets, sectors and channels in which clients operate; using internal/external resources to address knowledge gaps for self and team
  • Anticipating whats next; helping clients get ahead of issues and capitalize on new opportunities
  • Demonstrating empathy for clients by understanding the clients mindset, challenges (personal, professional, internal and external) and barriers to success; takes appropriate action
  • Driving measurement, including tracking progress and developing reports results based on agreed-upon metrics and achievement of business and communications goals
  • Escalating client opportunities and potential issues with equal amounts of urgency
  • Bringing in new capabilities against client needs, ensuring clients are benefitting from Edelman IP, insights, best practices, and methodologies
  • Pushing for creative ideas by being purposeful and enterprising in problem-solving; embracing diverse trends, skills, specialties, and viewpoints
  • Participating in new business opportunities as needed
  • Participating in client budget management and forecasting; proactively addressing changes in scope and delays in client invoice payment


  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in Communications Marketing and/or related fields, including public relations, advertising, management consulting, media or publishing
  • Track record of developing and executing profitable PR campaigns that meet the objectives of health and/or corporate clients


  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Strong communication active listening and ability to influence
  • Gravitas confidence and conviction in presenting ideas and providing counsel to internal and external audiences
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to negotiate and reconcile competing interests
