Job Description:

The Acoustic Test Group (ATG) at Bose is responsible for developing and deploying test plans, software, and hardware for Bose products in collaboration with our Contract Manufacturers. We are a small, energetic, and innovative team capable of responding with agility to new product complexities or schedules and are continuously improving the current acoustic test solutions. Our team is growing and continuing to take on more responsibility in defining and implementing audio test solutions.

We are looking to add a senior test engineer to our team with expertise in acoustics and automated audio testing, familiarity with electrical engineering, and experience programming with LabVIEW/Test Stand software and other test software platforms (AP, Matlab, Python, etc.). As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to grow professionally as an individual contributor on the acoustic test development process for various Bose products and will be expected to mentor junior ATG team members in their development.

Responsibilities:

  • Be knowledgeable about the Bose products under test, learn the functions of all acoustic test hardware and software used to test Bose products, and understand all details of the acoustics measurements performed in manufacturing.
  • Contribute to the new product development process as the acoustic test engineer developing test methodologies and test software and implementing these test solutions at various manufacturing locations
  • Thoroughly understand our current test sequences and protocols (primarily written in LabView and Matlab)
  • Travel to support new product builds. This will require domestic and international travel (4-6 times per year, typically one-week duration).
  • Work with CMs in Asia, Mexico, and elsewhere. This will require dedicated time outside of normal business hours with frequent evening calls.

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years work experience in acoustic engineering, test engineering, or related fields.
  • Solid understanding of audio/acoustic principles and related measurements.
  • Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW software and Audio Precision DAQ hardware
  • Solid understanding of statistics and data analysis/management.
  • Knowledge of various computer interfaces and data transfer types including PCI,PXI, GPIB, USB, Ethernet, RS232, Bluetooth, and BLE for data acquisition and instrument control.
  • The following electrical engineering skills preferred: Signals and systems analysis, Analog circuit analysis (including amplifiers and filters), Electromagnetic field theory, DSP knowledge preferred (specifically focused on filter design)
  • Other programming language experience appreciated: Matlab, C/C++, Python
  • Proficient in working with PCs, Windows OS, networks
  • Energetic and motivated with good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams

Education:

  • Required: BS in electrical engineering, acoustic/audio engineering or related field
  • Recommended: MS degree in electrical engineering, acoustic/audio engineering or related field
