Rosemount Measurement & Analytical, a business unit of Emerson Automation Solutions, is currently seeking an Software Test Engineer.

Rosemount is a signature brand of Emerson, offering a comprehensive line of measurement instrumentation, analyzers and systems which are used in a wide range of applications found in critical processing facilities such as refineries, chemical plants, power plants, pipelines, and more.

This Software Test Engineer will be an integral part of a team which is responsible for verification and validation of world-class embedded software for industrial process control devices which are used in safety and mission-critical applications.


1.Applies technical skills, commensurate with formal training and limited experience, to develop software. Work involves choosing between alternative proven techniques with some originality and moderate technical risk. Develops software using prior art and state-of-the-art techniques. Develops alternative technical approaches and pursues most viable ones. Defines philosophy and purpose behind design. Designs and implements test procedures to insure stable software.
2. Prepares detailed plans, spanning several months, necessary to complete assigned projects. Participates in formation of project goals, scope and schedule. Plans for availability of needed support people and lab equipment. Defines detailed software tasks.
3. Interacts on a regular basis with other functional groups and customers on technical and/or administrative matters. Corresponds with other groups frequently to identify activities which might affect instrument/system connect ability. May work with outside consultants and experts. May interact with Marketing where project goals are affected. Determines and communicates essential features of newly-developed products or systems to Production May support Product Engineering or Manufacturing.
4. Administers technical procedures. Maintains a record of all software developmental activities. Prepares regular and final project reports. May make project level-of-effort and schedule estimates.
5. Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from requirements definition through post-release activities

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor of Science in applicable Engineering field or Computer Science. An ABET-accredited engineering degree is preferred.
2 years of experience

Desired Attributes and Skills
Experience with software test techniques and methodology
Experience with test automation
Interest and experience with embedded firmware systems
Good communication skills and the ability to participate as a member of a team
Enjoys critical thinking and drives to find undesired behavior within software applications
