Position Summary:

Supports for the overall design, execution, management, and effectiveness of Unidos Contra Diabetes Collective Impact Initiative, by managing and facilitating projects, committees and or work groups, to ensure the achievement of its assigned goals and objectives.

Department: School of Public Health- Brownsville Regional Campus

Location: Brownsville, TX

Position Type: Full Time/ Non-Exempt

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Plans, develops, leads and tracks goals, objectives and tasks for assigned projects, committees and work groups.
  • Coordinates and monitors all aspects of project implementation, evaluation and reporting of planned deliverables while managing resources and deadlines.
  • Facilitates committee and work group meetings and employs critical thinking skills to adapt necessary methodology and techniques to create collaborative decision making and reach goals.
  • Evaluates and continuously improves, with data, project, work group and committee participation, collaboration and results.
  • Proposes, develops and maintains collaborative efforts and relationships with UCD partners and assigned committees.
  • Identifies appropriate and relevant information to communicate internally and externally such as executive and summary reports, implementation plans, project objectives and program outcomes. May write articles for newsletters, web pages, and other publications.
  • Represents UCD in community events or other venues as determined appropriate. Acts as a liaison informing & engaging partners by oral presentations and with ongoing communications.
  • Uses online platforms to collect and post project archives, program evaluation data; writes program reports and case studies to document progress.
  • Interacts extensively with the public and/or external organizations to facilitate Unidos Contra Diabetes goals. May participate in national and regional task forces to provide capacity building assistance and information to partners; applies health education theories, models, and concepts to Work Group activities.
  • Researches and analyzes data and best practices, relevant to project, committee and work group progress. Keeps abreast of relevant scientific and technical developments related to programs, such as diabetes prevention and collective impact. Assesses regional needs and develops project plans based on data and or evidence-based practices.
  • Manages meeting and event logistics.
  • Ensures that plans and protocols are followed to ensure compliance with all federal, state laws, and UTHSC-H policies, rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Knowledge of MS Office, SPSS or statistics software applications.
  • Facilitation, change management, group dynamics and project and or program management skills preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish may be preferred.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Education, Public Health, Social Sciences or related field preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Three years of related experience.
  • May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
