Koch Fertilizer Ft. Dodge is seeking a Plant Operator to join our team in Ft. Dodge, IA. Koch Fertilizer is an entrepreneurial company pursuing a self-motivated candidate to be a part of the plant production team with specific focus on process reliability and optimization.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Completing operations daily rounds, readings, and duties. (Monitoring pressures, temperatures, and flows.)

  • Perform reliability procedures and inspections. (Tank inspections, containment inspections, machine health inspections, etc.

  • Providing customer service in our loading area. (Support training of driver and relationship building.)

  • Provide technical support in day to day operations of the plant to produce, store, transfer, and load product in a safe environment

  • Operations of field PLCs and DCS control board systems

  • Sample collection and testing of unit products and systems

  • Operate water treatment system equipment, pumps, motors, control valves, piping, filtration equipment, etc.

  • Complete lock out / Tag outand permitting in qualified areas

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Available and willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts

  • Willing and able to respond to call-outs and work overtime as needed

  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication

  • Effective computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.)

  • Strong commitment to compliance i.e willing and able to assess hazards to avoid injury, to stop and ask if safe work conditions are questioned, to work injury free at all times

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • High school diploma or GED

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous ammonia, chemical plant, or refinery operations experience

  • Familiarity with DCS, PLC or SCADA controls

  • Experience with water treatment, boiler operations and mechanical repair

  • Two-year degree in process technology, instrumentation, maintenance, or electronics

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights exceeding 100 feet

  • Must be able and willing to work outdoors in all types of weather

  • Must be able to pass a pulmonary breathing test, wear a gas mask type respirator and full body coverage personal protective clothing and equipment, including a full chemical protective suit
