Job Description
Medlines HR team has an exciting new opportunity for an Organization Effectiveness Manager based at our corporate headquarters in Northfield, IL. Reporting to the Vice President-Talent & Organization Effectiveness, this individual will lead a new Organization Effectiveness Center of Expertise (COE). This individual creates and delivers business-relevant enterprise solutions and services to ensure that Medlines employee experience and culture is a competitive advantage, and that Medline is a high-performing organization. In addition, this individual is a key business partner to an assigned division, partnering with HR and a divisions business leaders to implement high value creating talent, leadership, and organization effectiveness solutions aligned with high impact business priorities and initiatives.

Major responsibilities:

  • Drive Culture and Engagement Strategy and approach for Medline and be accountable for implementation and outcomes/results. This includes confirming definition and metrics of engagement, identifying or confirming approach / tools / metrics / vendor, leading the roll-out and roll-up of surveys, building tools and communications for HRBPs to use with business leaders, and identifying enterprise insights (strengths/issues) and recommendations to continuously improve engagement levels.
  • Create tools and build HRBP capability in organization design to include an enterprise-wide model. Consult directly with the business and/or HR. Lead and/or co-lead and do organization design work for the business.
  • Create/implement tools and build HRBP and employee capability in change management to include an enterprise-wide model. Determine buy vs. build approach to ensure resources are available to consult directly with the business and/or HR. Lead and/or co-lead and do change management work for strategic high priority business initiatives.
  • Create/implement tools and build HRBP and employee capability in team effectiveness to include an enterprise-wide model. Determine buy vs. build approach to ensure resources are available to consult directly with the business and/or HR. Lead and/or co-lead and do team effectiveness work for strategic project teams and/or business teams.
  • Lead work in partnership with Talent Acquisition, Talent & Leadership Development, and other key stakeholders to include defining approach to creation, creating recommendation, project management, and implementation as reflected in full talent lifecycle and aligned with Medline culture.
  • Update or design an overarching first 90 days new hire orientation that is globally and locally flexible. Measure outcomes and continuously improve the program.
  • Build HRBP capability, lead or partner with HRBP in delivering Talent and OE work, such as facilitating talent reviews, creating accelerated development or transition plans, performing organization design work, and leading employee engagement initiatives.
  • As a business partner, work directly with business leaders and HRBPs to identify business needs and create and/or execute TOE/HR strategies and solutions.
  • Identify and assess new methodologies, technologies, and trends, ensuring current offerings are fit for purpose for Medline.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree; Masters degree in HR or OD preferred
  • At least 8 years of experience in progressively responsible HR positions in employee engagement, organization design, and team effectiveness
  • At least 2 years of experience leading an organization effectiveness Center of Expertise
  • At least 3 years of experience in talent management, performance management, leadership development, and/or an internal talent and organization consulting role within a business unit or function preferred
  • Broad knowledge of HR functions; experience in HRBP or Talent Acquisition role a plus
  • Deep expertise in organization design, whole system change, employee engagement, culture transformation, team effectiveness, and change management to include certifications, experience identifying and introducing solutions, and consulting with the business in those areas; expertise in employment branding and employee value proposition a plus
  • Understanding and experience with identifying and implementing strategic, fit for purpose, holistic solutions to business needs that enable business strategy and are aligned and integrated into the full talent/HR life cycle
  • Experience developing and deploying strategies, tools, templates, frameworks, processes, and resources to support execution of enterprise-wide talent management processes
  • Strong project management skills and process management skills
  • Experience working with people and leading/implementing work across the globe; demonstrated global mindset
  • Experience leading organization transformation efforts in partnership with the business in areas such as M&A, acquisition integration, new business model formation, and function transformations
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others to include selling recommendations and approaches to achieve shared goals; demonstrated ability to influence without direct control/authority
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, figure out how to, and effectively collaborate to generate outcomes; lead others and self to achieve milestones
  • Demonstrated curiosity and creativity in creating compelling solutions for change and improvement
  • Excellent relationship building skills with ability to develop coalitions and lead cross-functional professionals to team-driven outcomes
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills; outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong executive presence
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and deal with paradox; demonstrated ability to guide others through it
  • Critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to connect the dots
  • Demonstrated high level of resourcefulness, organization agility and savvy, execution skills (fuzzy front-end through implementation), and influence skills
  • Experience selecting, customizing, and using employee engagement tools, technologies, and reporting mechanisms
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
