Hy Hoe Operator/Knuckleboom Operator- McCormick, SC





Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for a Knuckleboom Operator, also known as a Hy Hoe Operator for the night shift in our McCormick, SC lumber mill. Machine Operators play a vital role in plant production by operating machinery in the saw and planer mills to meet and exceed quality and production goals. Additionally, they ensure a safe work environment that is clear of hazards.Every team member is responsible for the success of our facility.If you have the desire to learn new skills and advance, this is the job for you!

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



  • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures


  • Operating equipment to defined standards and product specification targets


  • Conducting required quality checks on products to ensure customer satisfaction


  • Completing appropriate end of the day reporting


  • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment


  • Keeping work area clean and free from hazards and debris

What You Will Need:



Basic Qualifications:
  • Willing and able to work any shift, overtime, holidays and weekends, as needed

  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for at least twelve (12) hours a day

  • Willing and able to work in a cold, humid, hot and noisy manufacturing environment

  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment

  • Must be able to work at elevated heights and in close cab quarters

What Will Put You Ahead?



Preferred Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED

  • A minimum of two (2) years of manufacturing or industrial experience

  • Experience in a wood products manufacturing environment

  • Mechanical experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
