Mars Food is looking for a Logistics Coordinator in Chicago, IL





Job Purpose:



The Logistics Coordinator is responsible and accountable for all day to day operations and cost management associated with distribution and warehousing. The role is responsible for continuous focus on operational and cost optimization from factory to warehouse.





Key Responsibilities:



  • In-Depth Knowledge of Logistics SAP Operations and Physical Logistics. Also, have an understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (Red Prairie), TMS (TransPlace), and Apollo.

  • Responsible for Budgeting - focusing on warehousing and LCCs with close collaboration with S&F on annual budgets and targets.

  • Manage the Outbound Distribution Network and the balancing of the network inventory. Primary focus - Maintain and develop a flexible, responsive, and cost effective transport network that meets Mars Food current and ongoing service requirements by creating Stock Transfers, monitoring costs, and evaluating best shipping methods. Make strategic recommendations on the way ambient product is distributed throughout North America and export markets. Ensure Aged and At Risk Product is dispositioned, and in a cost effective manner.

  • Carrier Relationship Management. Establish procedures to solve ongoing problems with transport companies. Conduct reviews with domestic and international carriers. Track KPIs and make recommendations as needed.

  • Relationship Management with Warehouse partners. Primary focus Establish relationships with all RDMs and logistics associates at other segments. Ensure warehouse providers meet Mars Food current and ongoing service requirements in a cost effective manner. Seek best practices for warehouse performance. Conduct Monthly reviews to monitor KPIs and progress of projects which will improve productivity. Attend LMOS daily.

  • Maintain and evaluate equipment needs PECO Pallets, Fork Trucks, Reefer trucks/storage. Maintain purchase orders in Ariba PO system.

  • Strategic Analysis. Key focus on reducing LCCs and network costs while driving efficiencies.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelors Degree required

  • Experience in logistics (3 -5 years)

  • Specifically in logistics financials

  • Skills in Excel

  • SAP capability (including using systems, running reports, using systems proactively)

  • Experience building relationships with 3rd Party Logistics Suppliers (Warehouses, Carriers, Etc)

  • Great communication skills
