Firmware Engineering Co-op

General Position Summary:The Engineering Co-op is to assist Engineers with product development and sustaining engineering activities related MMDG and products. The selected candidate will be part of a development team and paired with a staff engineer. They will support and assist the development of embedded software projects.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist Engineers with the associated activities related to MMDG product engineering
  • Participate as a team member in assigned software development project(s) in all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Maintain and update development environment.
  • Execute testing per established procedures, record results per established laboratory practices, analyze data and actively work with engineers to finalize the test results.
  • Assist with investigating product failures via active product performance testing.
  • Perform other various tasks needed in the Engineering Department

Education and/or Experience:Applicants should have some coursework or personal project experience within an engineering position. Knowledge of software development, design, and test principles as well as electrical schematics..

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of C/C++
  • Aptitude and interest in embedded software development
  • Use various electronic equipment and software to complete tasks
    • Logic analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and multi-meters
    • IAR experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Word and Excel
  • Ability to do data reductions and plotting.
  • Ability to manage software tools
  • Able to succeed in highly regulated compliance oriented environment while still providing service excellence
  • Applicants should be able to show that they can effectively work in a team environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Demonstrated experience in embedded software design, implementing and debugging real-time embedded software systems
