Position: Manager, Corporate Transformation Services

Alvarez & Marsals Corporate Transformation Services team is seeking an individual at the Manager level (New York) who can be part of our Activist Engagement/Defense team that strategizes in large, complex and transformational client engagements. Were looking for someone with experience as a confident financial analyst and manager, with the ability to see the big picture and break down complex problems into manageable solutions, and then produce quality deliverables for your team and clients. Youll work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, thrive on multifaceted challenges and adeptly manage ambiguity.

This position is a highly visible role within the organization that offers significant responsibility and exposure to senior management and many aspects of the business. Given the nature of the work, the candidate must be very well-organized, self-motivated, intellectually curious, display a strong attention to detail and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive industry and company research, financial analysis, data analysis and valuation modeling
  • Translate research and analysis into best-in-class presentations that tell a compelling, fact-based story
  • Create, support the development of and present client engagement proposals, including Request for Proposal (RFP) responses
  • Present unique ideas and challenge existing thought processes within a collaborative team environment
  • Develop and oversee gold standard quality deliverables
  • Develop internal talent to grow the teams breadth and depth of capabilities in alignment with organizational and personal goals
  • Effectively build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure exceptional corporate stewardship
  • Serve as a thought leader while participating in marketing and networking activities including conferences, industry events, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times, as this position requires high level of responsibility regarding confidential information

Experience & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have experience and a high level of comfort:

Analytical and Technical:

  • Conducting comprehensive due diligence through publicly available sources including: public filings, industry trade journals, news sources, social media sources, and channel check
  • Providing financial solutions utilizing various modeling and analysis tools and methodologies
  • Conducting financial statement analysis and valuation modeling
  • Developing cashflow analysis, strategic modeling and forecast planning
  • Constructing revenue and EBITDA bridges, performing LBO analysis, performing sum-of-the-parts asset valuation analysis, creating pro forma models, performing sensitivity analysis, performing IRR calculations under multiple scenarios
  • Leveraging understanding of US GAAP as well as corporate accounting and auxiliary functions including revenue, AP/AR, treasury, and financial reporting
  • Solving complex problems with the ability to exercise mature judgment

Communication:

  • Developing and/or managing the creation and quality of best-in-class PowerPoint presentations; ensuring the story conveyed is aligned with clients needs and A&Ms value-proposition
  • Presenting in front of audiences including internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborating with all levels of an organization, with external partners and potential clients
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information at all times

People:

  • Teaming with colleagues, both junior and senior, on shared deliverables and/or goals AND working independently
  • Developing and managing talent
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external networks and liaising amongst various functional groups within the firm
  • Contributing as a team player with a positive attitude and intellectual curiosity to learn new things

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to change, communicate expectations, adhere to deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure
  • Results-driven and detail-oriented with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Experience in leadership roles (project, program and/or people)

Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelors degree within Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Must have CFA
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience at an investment bank, hedge fund or top tier consulting firm and a minimum of seven (7) years total relevant work experience
  • Strong/expert level proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, etc.
