Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Environmental Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of safety, health, and environmental programs/ practices aimed to mitigate hazards and ensure compliance within the Hartford City site.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead efforts associated with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) management systems such as maintaining International Organization for Standardization (ISO)14001 certification
  • Interpreting, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining the reports/records submittal rhythm to assure completion of regulatory reporting and record keeping for all applicable Federal, State and local environmental permits. Site holds a Title V air permit
  • Lead all aspects of hazardous waste program. Site is a Large Quantity Generator (LQG)
  • Analyze environmental data, self-assessments, reports, trends and communicate findings to operational leadership and recommend plans for correction of gaps
  • Develop a broad knowledge and understanding of external environmental activities and technologies and how they relate to the businesses of the division/staff organization
  • Establish and cultivate a network of intra-divisional support to facilitate completion of EHS assignments
  • Communicate EHS projects and/or program status and results to operational leadership
  • Investigating workplace incidents and determining corrective actions
  • Monitoring EHS program effectiveness and conducting workplace and process hazard reviews.
  • Participate in Division and Site EHS Committee meetings and associated activities
  • Develop and implement EHS compliance programs
  • Develop and present EHS training

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum two (2) years of combined Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) experience in a manufacturing/production or research environment (private, public, government or military)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Environmental Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum two (2) years of environmental experience in a large, multi-faceted workplace (private, public, government or military)
  • Experience with EHS program administration, incident investigation, risk management and/or State/Federal regulatory compliance
  • Experience working with corporate/higher level EHS management systems
  • Skills include: self-directed, detail orientated, strong interpersonal communication skills, prioritization and organizational abilities, project management, proven leadership ability
  • Microsoft Office proficient

Location: Hartford City, IN

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation: Is authorized
