Position Description:


This position is responsible for any file maintenance or adjustments needed on consumer loans. The Consumer Loan Adjustment Specialist (CLAS) should possess a wider range of lending knowledge and greater skills to perform these functions. This includes extensive knowledge of all consumer loan processes including total loss, CreditDefender, CPI and loan adjustments. This position will serve as back up to the Consumer Loan Servicing Department. Additionally, the CLAS is a member of the lending quality assurance team and is responsible for providing support for lending initiatives, releases, conversions, mergers, and other special projects that relate to Symitar.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


Loan Maintenance Perform maintenance on loans to include recasting, payment adjustments and subsequent actions. Employee loan maintenance/QC.


Complete request on loan modifications, product add-ons, due date exceptions, CPI charges, and CPI refunds.


Symitar initiatives including releases and service pack testing.


Provide line backup to Consumer Loan Servicing Specialists as needed.


Other duties as required, to include backing up the Consumer Loan Servicing Specialist as needed.



Minimum formal education required for this position:


High School Diploma or equivalent


Each year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of Knowledge Consistent with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and 2+ years of accounting experience could be substituted for a High School Diploma and 6 years of relevant accounting work experience or a Masters Degree in Accounting and 0 years of work experience.


Minimum work experience:


4+ years consumer or mortgage lending experience


Technical or specialized knowledge/skills:


  • Advanced knowledge of Consumer Lending business terminology, required loan documents, and process flow

  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry relevant programs and their application such GAP/ MBP etc.

  • Experience calculating loan interest and payments

  • Display positive, professional demeanor and work independently with little supervision

  • Ability to read and understand documents such as appraisals

  • Organized, detail oriented, flexible, and able to multi-task in an ever-changing environment

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Symitar

  • Initiative to meet and/or exceed job standards and willingness to take on other tasks that support the goals of the Credit Union

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and mathematical skills

  • Intermediate competency with Microsoft Word and Excel or similar programs

Environmental, physical and psychological requirements:


  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time in a climate controlled environment. Must be able to use fingers, hands, wrists for repetitive tasks such as typing, using a mouse, and operating a telephone. Demands for visual and auditory acuity are typical of an office environment. Must be able to interact via email, telephone, or in person with diplomacy, tact, and courtesy with all members under varying circumstances. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner. Must be flexible with schedule to work overtime as needed based on demands of the membership. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
