Were looking for an Aviation Aeronautical Data Analyst to collect, analyze and evaluate aeronautical data from worldwide data and imagery sources. The Aeronautical Analyst is responsible for processing aeronautical source publications and imagery from all over the world which will be input into our navigation databases. This is a highly specialized field and requires the individual to successfully complete 12-18 months of additional training before becoming a qualified member of the production team. The Aviation Aeronautical Data Analyst will be responsible for applying aviation specific concepts as information from aeronautical source is reviewed, analyzed, and input into our aeronautical navigation database. The Aviation Aeronautical Data Analyst works with customers such as the FAA, the Department of Defense, and foreign entities to produce quality aeronautical products that will be utilized by the aviation community in public and private airspace. For example, an Aeronautical Analyst could be responsible for producing an ARINC 424 file which will be flown in an FAA flight inspection airplane for approval, and then will be included in FAAs National Flight Database (NFD) for use in a Flight Management System (FMS).

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science or another aeronautical related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other required skills include:

  • Possess an understanding of aeronautical navigation, aeronautical engineering concepts, procedures, data and charts relevant to Garmins Aviation business

  • Demonstrate attention to detail with the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging technical environment to meet competing and concurrent deadlines

  • Demonstrate excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Desirable skills:

  • Previous work experience as an air traffic controller, military TERPS specialist, geospatial analyst, imagery analyst or aeronautical information specialist

  • Private pilots license with instrument rating

  • 2 years experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of the job

  • Demonstrate an understanding of instrument flight rules, instrument procedures and the United States National Airspace System

  • Possess relevant experience and/or training in a high level software programming language such as C, C++, C# or Java

  • Familiarity with Cartography, GIS principles and methodologies

  • Bilingual skills
