Knowledge / Experience You Have:

  • Desired knowledge of the basics of the construction business " industry trends, current practices, self-perform and common processes as it pertains to risk, safety, accounting, and operations
  • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience (2-4 years as General Foreman) in a commercial ground up climate controlled storage construction environment
  • Current Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certification or achievement of STSC within six months of hire, maintenance of active certification status
  • Working knowledge of all crafts (ability to read and understand specifications for all trades) and prior experience as foreman in at least one trade. Experience as project engineer plus.
  • OSHA laws, job scheduling, planning, expediting, and cost control
  • Versed in Microsoft Suite
  • Specific local market knowledge and subcontractor relations in the Atlanta and Southeast region

Key Responsibilities in the Role:

  • Maintain rational and objective demeanor when faced with stressful and emotional situations
  • Create cohesive, positive, and mutually supportive culture with teams
  • Work with field teams to ensure safe and clean projects
  • Develop strong relationships with business partners and solicits leads on new potential work
  • Work with self-perform crews to ensure productivity is maximized
  • Assist with maintenance and updating of project schedules and take ownership of project schedule using software P6
  • Prepare, review, and approve all necessary field documentation and reports including, but not limited to, time sheets, T&M tickets, work orders, invoices, daily reports, inspection reports, permit applications, etc.
  • Manage all project inspections, testing, and permits ensuring project and subcontractors are appropriately prepared
  • Achieve successful results through others while understanding workload and capability limitations
  • Monitor and actively manage day-to-day project labor productivity in the filed as well as labor and material budgets
  • Effectively manage and build partnerships with subcontractors through the project ensuring compliance with subcontractor requirements ( schedule, manpower, scope, contingencies, quality, etc. )
  • Ensure all client issues and concerns are effectively managed and resolved in a timely manner maximizing client satisfaction where possible
  • Encourage positive team dynamics, reduces risk, and organizes the efforts of the entire project team
  • Work with project pursuit teams and preconstruction resources to secure new projects
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
  • Attend and participate in Safety Training Program and enforce safety procedures
  • Verify subcontractor certificates of insurance
  • Prepare and maintain responsibility for CPM job schedule
  • Recruit, organize, train, direct and coordinate field construction team including subcontractors direct hire work
  • Order materials and tools and plan supply allotment to avoid crisis buying
  • Prepare necessary reports (e.g. time sheets, work orders, daily reports and invoice approval)
  • Review all drawings, specifications and subcontractor submittals
  • Chair or attend pre-job conference, regular subcontractor meetings
  • Perform start-up testing and turnover to Owner and document final close-out and Owners acceptance
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned
