Blackboards K-12 team is responsible for new client acquisition exclusively in the K-12 market. They meet or exceed sales objectives of the assigned territory by promoting and selling the Blackboard suite of products and services through a consultative selling approach that effectively aligns the products to customer business objectives while demonstrating a quantifiable value proposition to the customer.

As Account Executive, you will be responsible for selling multiple Blackboard solutions into growth accounts, which are mainly mid-tier to large enrollment districts, while focusing aggressively on new business within those existing accounts and prospect accounts. Specific responsibilities will include:



  • Selling Blackboard products and/or services to prospects and/or existing clients

  • Acquiring new clients through the sale of Blackboard products and services

  • Definingand executingterritory sales plans

  • Preparingbusiness plans

  • Completingand deliveringweekly activity reports to support the sales and business plans

  • Researching, developing, prospecting, and creatinga pipeline of opportunities of at least three times the necessary revenue required to meet the sales quota

  • Efficiently qualifying leads

  • Persuasively presenting Blackboard products and services in alignment with client needs

  • Conducting product demonstrations both in person and via web conferencing

  • Prospecting within defined territories by leveraging existing client relationships, referrals, cold calling, social media, and marketing

  • Planning and leading strategic meetings across a diverse client base at the executive level of the K-12 district, reading the communication and buying style of the decision-maker and supporting committee members

  • Conducting meetings with groups of people for both Blackboard and K-12 district committees

  • Managingan effective transition of new clients to an Account Manager as appropriate


The Candidate:



Required skills:



  • Experiencein new business development with 5+ years of successful and relevant new sales experience

  • Experience within the high tech or e-learning sales industry

  • Tenacityand abiltiy to aggressively prospectand generateleads

  • A demonstrated track record of achieving/exceeding sales quotas

  • Proficiencywith core sales skills including prospecting, needs analysis, presentation, negotiation, and proposal writing

  • Ability to effectively manage sales cycles and make executive-level company and product presentations

  • Experience selling at the executive level and ability to communicate a solutions strategy based upon organization requirements and needs

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills

  • Highly organized and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

  • Travel: 50-60%



Preferred skills:



  • Experience in the K-12 industry

  • Bachelor's degree
